The number of German clubs which may participate in UEFA competitions is determined by a formula that takes into account the results of a particular nation's clubs in UEFA competitions over the preceding five years (known as the UEFA coefficients ranking list).

Premiere plans to acquire or launch its own channel to show at least 13 of the 125 matches per season, including the final, on a free channel -- trying to pacify sports bodies who fret that viewers tune out if they have to open their wallets too often.
German media reports last month said Premiere was in talks to buy German sports channel DSF from media group EM.TV (EV4G.DE: Quote, Profile, Research).
