Gerry Meehan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gerry Meehan (born September 3, 1946 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey leftwinger.
The score was tied, but with just four seconds on the clock, Meehan took a shot from 80 feet away that somehow got by Flyers goalie Doug Favell – ending the Flyers' season.
With the departures of Bowman and superstar Gilbert Perreault, the Sabres finished the season in last place overall that year, but rebounded the next year as NHL's most improved team, with a record of 37-32-11 – and 21 points higher in the standings.

 The Last In Line
But Gerry Meehan, selected with the twenty-first overall pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs, has the dubious distinction of being the first player to be selected last in an NHL Entry Draft!
Meehan became a useful NHLer, appearing in 670 regular season contests and notching 180 goals, though the journeyman accumulated those totals whilst playing for six teams including the first Buffalo Sabres squad.
Meehan also worked for the Sabres in the capacity of Assistant General Manager and then General Manager for almost a decade beginning in the mid-1980s.
