Replying, Gerry Sutcliffe MP, Under-Secretary of State for Employment Relations, Competition and Consumers at the Department of Trade and Industry said the Government needed to balance the desire for more holidays with the cost to business of £200 billion a day.
Sutcliffe continued that while he was "attracted" by the idea of extra holidays "You have to work out the balances between the costs and whether you should have extra bank holidays but we will keep it under consideration."
He asked Mr Sutcliffe to meet a Welsh Assembly delegation to discuss the issue further but the minister feared he could be meeting large numbers of delegations if he gave way on the issue.

February this year Employment Relations Minister Gerry Sutcliffe announced changes to the national minimum wage regulations that could see homeworkers receive pay rises in October 2004 and April 2005.
In April 2005, homeworkers will see a further improvement in their wages when employers will have to pay an average worker at the rate of 120% of the national minimum wage, a change designed to bring more homeworkers under the umbrella of the national minimum wage.
Gerry Sutcliffe said "many homeworkers have suffered from low wages from unscrupulous employers and today's proposals will mean that around 170,000 homeworkers across the country could see their wages increase by thousands of pounds."
