the Battle of Gettysburg Resource Center - Monument Vandalism
Gettysburg school officials confirmed that a french fry concession stand at the football stadium was vandalized and some cooking oil may have been taken.
In the incidents, which occurred on Nov. 18 and 19 at the Gettysburg National Military Park and on Nov. 23 at the Antietam National Battlefield, the granite bases of numerous monuments and statues were stained with olive oil that was poured onto the structures in a distinctive ritualistic pattern, officials said.
In the Gettysburg attack last week, 17 monuments were stained with cooking oil over a two-day span during the park's celebration of the 136th anniversary of the Gettysburg address and the dedication of the national cemetery.
