The "Inner Sanctum" may have the special ability (may be resolved instead of drawing an encounter) that an investigator may "sacrifice" 10 toughness worth of monster trophies and lose 1 sanity to remove a doom token from the doom track and increase the terror track by 1.
This way, the investigators even benefit from the scrolls if they don't face Ghatanothoa, and they need them more when the game proceeds.
