Were it not for the baleful influence of the penalty shootout, Hagi’s career might have had more tangible reward at the top level.
The lure of managing Galatasaray proved too much to resist but this season has seen the club finish 3rd in the league- disaster by their standards- and so Hagi resigned in May. The speculation is that he may go to another of the clubs where he is a legend-Steaua.
It remains to be seen if Hagi is going to be another in the line of genius players who cannot find their touch in coaching.
