Ion Ghica (1817-1897) Descendant of a Romanian noble family (nine ruling princes), prominent Romanian writer and political leader, and one of the founders of modern Romania.
Ghica served, as well, as a link between the Muntenians and the revolutionary French regime, especially Lamartine, whose counsel was responsible for delaying the uprising in Bucuresti from April to June.
Ghica was an advocate of armed resistance to the bitter end, an option not pursued by the last military leader of the Muntenian revolution, Gheorge Magheru.

Ion Ghica (1817-1897) was a Romanian diplomat and a prime minister of Romania between 1866 and 1867 and also between 1870-1871. He was educated in Bucharest and in the West, and studied engineering and mathematics in Paris from 1837 to 1840.
Ghica Ion (1816-1897) was noticed in the evolution of our literature as an exponent of the epistolary genre.
Descended from the Walachian prince Grigore III Ghica, Ion Ghica joined the opposition to the rule of his cousin Alexandru II Ghica, prince of Walachia from 1834, that resulted in Alexandru's deposition in October 1842.

Born in Bucharest to a family of low nobility, he used the maiden surname of his mother, whow was originally from Bălceşti, Vâlcea, in place of his father's name, Petrescu.
Upon his release, he, with Ion Ghica and Christian Tell, formed a secret organisation called Frăţia (Brotherhood).
