In the Amar Mahal Museum, Jammu is a superb painting done by Santosh in yellow, fl and little red in which are shown out-spread buttocks of a female and in the centre, that is Yoni, is a Shiva Linga.

 About Santosh, Ghulam Rasool
Born in Srinagar, Kahmir, G. Santosh studied painting, weaving and papier-mache and in 1950 joined the Progressive Arts Association in Kashmir, which was formed as a result of painter Raza’s efforts to mobilize Kashmiri painters.
In 1954, he won a Government scholarship to study Fine Arts under artist N.S. Bendre in the M.S. Universiity, Baroda.
He has had numerous solo exhibitions from 1953 to 1989 including Kumar Gallery, New Delhi (1962), Gallery Mayer, New York (1963-65) and Dhoomimal Art Centre, New Delhi.

For the past eight years the functioning of the Academy had come to a halt.
Hundreds of rare books, manuscripts and about ten paintings by artists of international repute including Ghulam Rasool Santosh and others have gone unaccounted for.
A senior official while speaking on conditions of anonymity disclosed to this newspaper that the Academy which is an autonomous body, has been robbed by none other than its own mentors and high officials.
