Gibson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Indiana.
Gibson was Secretary of the Indiana Territory, serving as acting Governor on two occasions.
In the county the population is spread out with 24.80% under the age of 18, 8.40% from 18 to 24, 28.20% from 25 to 44, 23.10% from 45 to 64, and 15.50% who are 65 years of age or older.

While the time of James Wheeler and family came to Gibson County is given as late summer of 1805, James states in his application for Revolutionary War pension the number of years he was living in Indiana made the year 1808.
The war over and peace declared, he returned to his country home, where he lived the quiet life of a farmer for a number of years, and he and his wife died after filling in usefulness their allotted time.
In 1926 the patriotic organizations of Gibson County placed a tombstone in front of the original one; there is also a footstone.

They're all activities of the American Red Cross of Gibson County Youth Corp. The Youth Corp, also known as the Helping Hand program, is composed mainly of children in grades four through eight although some high school-aged teens participate as well.
Youth Corp members have become the most visible representatives of the American Red Cross in Gibson County.
The Youth Corp's training came in handy in December when the chapter opened a shelter in a local elementary school in response to a flood that affected numerous families along the Wabash, Patoka, and White Rivers in Gibson County.
