 Acoustic Guitar Central
Gibson stopped manufacturing the EB model in 1972 (although it was reintroduced in altered form as the J-180 in 1986), right around the time that Phil ran into a young luthier by the name of Robert Steinegger (PO Box 25304, Portland, OR 97298; steiny@aracnet.com).
On the verge of the Everlys’ London reunion concert, Phil asked Steinegger if he could build a pair of new guitars based on the style of the Gibson EB.
At the height of their popularity in the early ’60s, the Everlys designed a guitar in conjunction with Gibson that addressed some of the most persistent problems they’d encountered.

 iggy pop + the stooges in spain/portugal/france/italy - 2005
I didn't get too freaked cuz helperman jos said he's got a new epiphone (they've been gibson since the 60s) eb-3 that's pretty close to my little gibson bass (as far as a stock one could be, the physical dimensions anyway).
jos though comes up to me in the next tune ("1969") and is saying something but man, the sound is blasting much and I can't really gather what he's trying to tell me but I know he's intent upon it.
stageman jos got mani from primal scream's marshall bass amps (two four hundred watt heads and two 8x10 speaker cabs though one amp's running both of them while the other one is off and being held in reserve just in case).

 yourDictionary.com • Library: Mullet
Apart from any fancied analogies between the mullet fish of the EB’s description and the physiognomy or behavioral patterns of mullet wearers of the hairdo, it is possible that the typical outward flaring of the hair on either side of the back neck was seen as analogous to the "forked tails" of the fish.
Those who sport or have sported the mullet include Michael Bolton, Billy Ray Cyrus (singer of the memorable "Achy Breaky Heart"), Larry Fortensky (Liz Taylor’s husband number 9), Mel Gibson, Hulk Hogan, Brad Pitt, and David Spade, star of the recent movie Joe Dirt, in which the mullet "do" is a plot element.
A perhaps related term in America is mullet or mullethead meaning "fool, blockhead, numskull, foolish person." It is recorded in Jonathan E. Lighter’s Random House Historical Dictionary of American Slang, along with the related adjective mulletheaded.

 BILLY SHEEHAN
According to Sheehan, "The amazing deep tone of the neck position pick-up on [Samwell Smith's Epiphone Rivoli] and the Gibson EB series basses was the original inspiration for adding the neck position pick-up on my old P-bass." Sheehan later incorporated a similar large humbucker into his signature Yamaha Attitude series basses.
The first Talas and Toys albums came out almost simultaneously because I remember we were all at the same party (a birthday bash for singer Holly Woods of the "Canadian" band Toronto...half the band was actually from Rochester-Buffalo) and both our albums were being debuted for our music friends there.
Billy Sheehan is a great example of what it takes to be at the top of your game in the music biz over the long run...live, eat and breathe music and never be afraid of stretching the boundaries and perceptions.

Sheehan later incorporated a similar large humbucker into his signature Yamaha Attitude series basses.
That huge humbucker is there because some of the early bass parts he learned were those of Paul Samwell Smith.
The small switch on the face of an Epiphone Rivoli does the same thing the push/push switch on his Attitude basses does for the tone of that pick-up.

When Noel Redding went to his first audition with Jimi Hendrix in London on 29 September 1966, he borrowed Chas Chandler’s GibsonEB-2’ semi-acoustic one-pick-up bass guitar.
In July 1967 Noel Redding also got a Hagstrom eight-string bass (1967), which he used for some of the Axis: Bold As Love studio recordings and also for a few of the JHE concerts during 1967.
In the 80s Noel sold his Jazz bass (at that time in rather poor condition) for UK £10,000 to collector Bob Terry, who himself sold it again a few years later.
