Gibson came to the United States from England, by way of Canada, in 1913 where he met Beatrice Bird, also from England, whom he married.

Peter Gowland is THE glamour photographer, but I guess we are talking about another era.
What was interesting about Gowland is that he is very much a 'thrifty' photographer with a waste-not attitude (being a child of the Depression), often hacking together his own equipment affordably.
