Larry Gigli: You see, after all is said and done, the only thing you can be really sure of, the only thing you can really count on in this world, is that you just never fucking know.
I borrowed my friend's Gigli DVD to see if the movie was really as bad as the ratings and other comments here will indicate.
That ranking was undeserved, as the movie does have decent technical aspects (editing, sound) relative to Manos and Future War.

Gigli passed away in Rome on 30 November 1957, at the age of 67, after having suffered a heart attack, as a result of myocarditis (heart inflammation), diabetis and Asiatic flu.

Gigli sang this role until the end of his remarkable career: in November 1946 at the Covent Garden in London with his daughter Rina (Mimì) he was Rodolfo once again, a "paternal" lover who did nothing to hide his fatherly pride.

 ESPN.com - Page2 - Ben & J-Lo: As bad as it gets
"Gigli" has already been placed among the worst movies ever made, joining such recent garbage as "Glitter," "Showgirls" and "The 2000 World Series Highlight Video." I mean, when I went to the theater for "Gigli," my other choices were a movie based on a comic book, a movie based on a video game and a movie based on an amusement park ride.

Brest writes good dialogue, and, though the critics who were unified in their hate of Gigli will no doubt scoff at such a notion, Brest is perhaps the only living heir to Preston Sturges, able to amusingly and convincingly put high-flown verbiage in the mouths of the low or loathsome.
The best reviews of Gigli appeared before it even came out, based solely on the script (there are two of them, one at Screenwriters Utopia.com and one by Staxx), and they pretty much isolate the film's flaws.

Snack bars, diners, fancy restaurants and outdoor food stands—any menu-displaying source of sustenance that wasn’t part of some homogenized, conglomerated nationwide chain—was fair game for the wandering Giglis, and Gina’s newest book was the sometimes sad and serious but often poignant and funny result of their travels.
But as Gina Gigli learned as she researched What’s Eating America, when fear, insecurity, shattered nerves or some other bump in the road knock Americans temporarily off-balance, food in any number of forms does a better job of supplying reassurance than any glib politician or gun-toting security guard.
