Gilberto Monroig (July 2, 1937 – May 3, 1996) born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, a singer of boleros.
Gilberto's parents moved from the countryside to the city in search of a better way of life and settled in the Villa Palmera sector of Santurce, a section of San Juan where the musical sounds of the bomba and plena and of the tango filled the air.
Gilberto received his primary and secondary education in Puerto Rico and later on earn his high school equivalent diploma in New York City.

Glenn Monroig was born on 22 April 1957 in San Juan, Puerto Rico and appeared on the music scene in 1980 with a style and sensitivity so distinct from the mainstream, that he made the critics wonder at just how to label and classify him.
One of his songs: "Todo depende de ti", became the 1988 anti-drug campaign theme song in Puerto Rico; sung jointly by Ednita Nazario, Danny Rivera, Yolandita Monge, Sophy, Lourdes Robles, Menudo, and others.
Monroig continued recording but veered away from the pop ballads and focused on other styles.
