Gilgamesh looks like an Arabian or Greek warrior wearing a red hood and cloak.
He has four arms with four different swords for four different attacks - Zantetsuken works the same as Odin's attack, Excalibur does medium damage to enemies, Masamune does high damage to enemies, and Excalipoor does 1 HP of damage (he used this sword in FF5, thinking it was the real thing, with hilarious results).
Unlike other GF's, Gilgamesh's appearances can't be controlled; he appears randomly at the beginning of battles (including boss fights!) and uses one of the four attacks.

 IGN: Final Fantasy Anthology Review
Though beautiful and stunning in context, both Final Fantasy V and VI were forced to rely mainly on gameplay and storyline to immerse players.
When the game was released back in '94 on Super NES, Final Fantasy III (as it's known here in the States) represented everything an RPG should be and bumped up the standards in gameplay by including an inventive Esper system that nearly doubled the amount of options characters had in and out of battle.
Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI both have enough of those treasured definitive gaming moments during each quest to last through this current generation of software and probably the next.

IGN: Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls Review
Final Fantasy II isn't quite as modified as the first game, but it does have a few new additions worth mentioning.
Both Final Fantasies in the collection also boast several new dungeons and nearly 70 new enemies taken from the latter NES and Super NES sequels and as expected, are more difficult to fight through than the other sections of the games.
Of course, gamers that picked up last year's PSOne compilation Final Fantasy Origins may not have as much of an incentive to snatch Dawn of Souls up, but the added dungeons and slightly better translation is a strong bonus for the already appealing idea of portable Final Fantasy.

Understandable - RPGs in the United States were once a rare thing, and thanks to Final Fantasy VI and Secret of Mana (as well as the fact that Enix gave up on the States at some point), Square was the biggest name around.
And, with the vast amounts of information available online, those people soon found out that Final Fantasy III was actually the sixth game, and that there was one between "the one with Cecil" and "the one with Terra" that Square didn't release in America.
Everyone knew who Gilgamesh, Butz and Exdeath were; people eagerly awaited the MOD rendition of the Gilgamesh theme to be made; and Andrew Vestal caused an uproar when he claimed to have obtained a translated beta version of the game.
