At her regular surgery the MP was given the opportunity to take a pill containing the same amount as one litre of the water used to treat Lincoln inhabitants.
Lincoln's treatment began in 1970 after twenty City Councillors voted by a majority of one to give everybody fluoride, which is pollution from a local fertiliser factory.

Gillian Merron MP and the Right Worshipful the Mayor Lincoln, Councillor Donald Nannestad received a cheque for £100,000 from Paul Edwards of Powergen on Friday, 9th January at Lincoln’s Guildhall.
The donation, combined with £124,541 from the Energy Saving Trust, “TransportEnergy New Vehicle Technology Fund” and a £66,000 capital allocation by the City of Lincoln Council, means that the first electric vehicle could be in service by June 2004.

Aviation Minister Gillian Merron broke the news in a letter to Conservative Transport Spokesman Chris Grayling, dated 20th July.
In the Civil Aviation Bill, expected to become law in the Autumn, the Government wanted to do away with a limit on the number of flights between 11.30pm and 6am at the countries three "designated" airports, Heathrow, Stansted and Gatwick.
Gillian Merron's letter says the Government will not try to reinstate the clause when the Bill returns to the Commons for one last time in the Autumn.

New measures to tackle abuse of the Blue Badge Scheme for disabled people will come into force from September 29, Transport Minister Gillian Merron announced today.
It will be an offence if a person refuses, without reasonable excuse, to produce a badge for inspection - punishable on conviction by a fine of up to £1,000.
