  Gilwell 24 - A 24 Hour event for Explorer Scouts and Senior Section Guides 11th - 13th July 2008
Gilwell 24 2008 is on Saturday 12th July (9am) until Sunday 13th July 2008 9am.
Gilwell 24 is an activity and challenge based event, you need to take part to get the most out of it - however if you'd prefer to just sit around with your friends we can cater for that as well.
Due to the nature of the activities currently planned there will be a series of consent forms to be completed so its going to be important to get your bookings in early so you don't end up missing out on some of the special activities.

 Symbols of Woodbadge/Wood Badge Training
The three symbols that represent the completion of all the Wood Badge requirements are the Turks Head Woggle (part 1), and (upon the completion of part 2) the Gilwell Scarf and Wooden Beads (wood badge) on a leather thong worn around the neck.
The Turks Head woggle was designed by a staff member at Gilwell Park in the 1920s and can be taken apart in an emergency to start a campfire.
And the red-lined, dove grey kneckerchief with Maclaren Tartan, represents Gilwell Park where the first course was given.

It denotes membership in the First Gilwell Troop and may be worn by the Scouter when he is not with or representing his Troop.

tribe.  In September of 1919 when B-P gave his course in Scoutmaster training at Gilwell Park, England, he took beads from that string to present to the participants, signifying their leadership in Scouting. ; The tradition continues.  This course is what we now call Wood Badge, and is given internationally.
For 2003 the date will again be the "traditional" 2nd weekend in September and it is hoped by many that, in future, the date will not be changed again.  That remains to be seen since Rosh Hashanah will again conflict with the date in a few years time.
While our numbers in the last few years have been declining, that ratio remains in place.  Guests from other countries are not affected by, or subject to, that ratio.

The Gilwell Park Amateur Radio Group goes back over 30 years, being part of the Campsite activities and providing visitors to the Campsite with the opertunity to learn and experience the excitment of Amateur Radio.
The station is open most weekends during the Summer, for special events like Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) and at other time by arrangment through the Campsite Staff.
The Radio Station Team is part of the Gilwell Park Service Team.

At Gilwell Park there are three large car parks available on site and parking is free.
Baden-Powell House does not have any allocated parking but is in the heart of London and easily accessible by public transport.
