On October 28, the Supreme Court postponed the discussion of the cassation appeal of Khatuna Chkhaidze, Giorgi Sanaia’s wife till November 5, due to non-attendance of the State Prosecutor.
Nevertheless, the Court revoked an earlier decision of Gldani-Nadzaladevi District Court and considered the victim’s sexual insult to the convict as the motive for the crime.

Giorgi Sanaia, sometimes spelled as Giorgi Sanaya (in Georgian: გიორგი სანაია;) (1975-2001) was a Georgian television journalist of an independent broadcasting company Rustavi 2 who was murdered in controversial circumstances in 2001.
However, Sanaia’s widow and many Georgians are dissatisfied as the court failed to establish the true motive of the murder, and to find answers to a number of questions and doubts.

In July 2001, Georgi Sanaia, one of Rustavi's leading journalists and a presenter of "60 Minutes" was killed allegedly for his exposes of the connection between the state security organs and criminal activities, including drug smuggling in the Pankisi region.
He said that Giorgi Sanaia was “the best representative of Rustavi 2… He could talk to all parties.” He thought it was dangerous to broadcast programmes like Sanaia’s “60 Minutes” because such investigative reporting could lead to reprisal killings by unhappy subjects.
It soon emerged that Sanaia was dead, killed at close range in his flat by an anonymous gunman.
