Victoria's regional independent schools have moved to defend the current schools funding formula, with some saying they would have been forced to shut down or abandon campuses had the previous system continued.
One such submission to a Senate inquiry into Commonwealth Schools funding came from Gippsland Grammar, one of several schools that are calling for the Socio-Economic Status (SES) system, which links private schools' funding to students' home postcodes, to be maintained.
Gippsland Grammar business manager Colin Price said the Education Resources Index (ERI), replaced in 2001, had seriously disadvantaged schools in regional Australia by not measuring parents' ability to afford fees.

Bursary winner Peter Collins recently moved from a 90acre dairy farm at Ellinbank in West Gippsland to a 350acre dairy farm at Yinnar, South Gippsland with his family, where he hopes to put into practice many of the skills he learns during his course.
Twins, Brenton and David Llewellyn completed their VCE at Gippsland Grammar in Sale and have both completed Certificate II in Agriculture as part of the VET in Schools program.

Girls can be congratulated as they faught all the way until the last run and I have no doubt that after some catch-up sleep and much needed match training the girls will do well in their next few matches.
After winning the toss Danni decided to put the other team out in the field which proved to be a very good tactic as we had 9 batters all making it to home in the first innings and managed to keep Gippsland Grammar scoreless.
Unfortunately in the second innings they started to watch our pitches more closely and managed to get 15 runners home in the next 2 innings to our 6.
