The British Horse Society (BHS) has presented its first Award of Access 2003 in Cambridgeshire, to Richard Bensley and David Irvine, project engineers of Atkins based in Girton, Cambridgeshire.
Cambridgeshire County Council recognised the importance of including bridleway routes within the design of both schemes, and the award is presented to the Atkins design engineers for their close liaison with the BHS and designing facilities that take account of best practice.
The responsibility for completion of the Fordham and Papworth bypass schemes is now with Cambridgeshire County Council and the BHS is eager to see these two schemes completed and used as good examples in other areas.
