The parish was in the Brigg sub-district of the Glanford Brigg Registration District.
Brigg (Glanford Brigg) is a large village, market town and a parish 163 miles north of London, also 16 miles southwest of Hull and 24 miles north of Lincoln.
Glanford Brigg may derive from a corruption of Clampford, from the clamps or planks of timber, laid down in ancient times across the ford and its swampy approaches.

Glanford park lacks atmosphere, and well, maybe, you can see why they have such a good home record recently.

However, I had reached the end of the M181 by 6pm and although the stands of Glanford Park were hidden from view, the floodlights could not be missed by the end of the motorway.
The home fans remaining around the ground stood quietly as injury time was played out, but as the Lincoln players and fans celebrated at the final whistle, the Scunthorpe supporters gave their team a standing ovation.
For one of the biggest games for some time at Glanford Park, the home fans created a decent atmosphere, but given the efforts the club made to raise the noise level, the response of the Scunthorpe supporters was a little disappointing.

As a result of the Poor Law Reform of 1834, 50 Brigg-area parishes covering 252 square miles in Lincolnshire, just south of the River Humber, became part of the Glanford Brigg Poor Law Union which was formally constituted on 18 January 1837.
The count of parishes increased over the years as new parishes formed in the district.
