Glascock County is located in the eastern part of Georgia about 35 miles southwest of Augusta. ; It has an area span of 144 square miles and population of just under 2,600.
Prior to 1857, Glascock was part of Warren County, with the county seat at Warrenton.
Glascock County was named after Brigadier General Thomas Glascock, a member of Congress, lawyer, and an officer in the State Militia.

In the county the population was spread out with 23.80% under the age of 18, 7.70% from 18 to 24, 26.80% from 25 to 44, 23.50% from 45 to 64, and 18.20% who were 65 years of age or older.

County, in east central Georgia, was created from Warren County in 1857 and named after Thomas Glascock of Augusta, a veteran of the War of 1812 (1812-15) and the Seminole Wars who subsequently served in the state legislature and the U.S. Congress.
The county seat, Gibson, was established on twenty acres of land given by Calvin Logue.
According to the 2000 U.S. census, the population of Glascock County is 2,556 (90.6 percent white, 8.3 percent fl, and 0.5 percent Hispanic).
