 Houses of the Future
The basis of the Glass House was to design an environmentally responsive, ultra-low energy living space incorporating state-of-the-art material technologies.
One of these is Pilkington Activ glass, which has a transparent exterior coating using nanotechnology that uses the forces of nature - natural ultraviolet light and rain - to keep the glass free from organic dirt.
Like its predecessors, the Glass House of the Future challenges the materiality of architecture; and the use of structure, technology and design for housing in the twenty-first century.

 Philip Johnson
The first director of the architecture department at the Museum of Modern Art in 1946, and later a trustee, he was awarded an American Institute of Architects Gold Medal in 1978 and the first Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1979.
Perhaps his most famous work is the Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut, a transparent frame structure initially designed as his own home for his master's thesis in 1949, and in which he has since resided.
The estate on which the Glass House is built continues to grow and now boasts a number of unique designs, including a building made out of chain-link fencing, a sculpture gallery with a glass ceiling, a house of brick mirroring his glass house, and a building with no conventionally shaped walls (having only two corners).

That near future will entail arranging to open the house on an appointment only basis for “academic and technical tours,” but also, says Bahlman, “We’ll be working on a plan to have it open to the public as soon as possible, probably sometime in the early to late Spring.
The house, 65 miles southwest of Chicago in Plano, Illinois, will be run by the Landmarks Preservation Council of Illinois, which was also instrumental in raising the cash.

Philip Glass --  Britannica Student Encyclopedia   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-15)
The music of Philip Glass is so distinctive that it cannot be easily labeled.
Mentioned only by name in the Apostle lists of the Synoptic Gospels, he is a frequent character in the Gospel According to John, according to which (1:43–51) he came from Bethsaida, answered Jesus' call (“Follow me”), and was instrumental in the call of St. Nathanael (probably St. Bartholomew the Apostle), whom he brought to Jesus.
Although his music was judged as too simplistic by some critics and too unconventional for mainstream appeal by others, his album Songs from Liquid Days climbed to the top spot on the classical charts in 1986.
