Glebe Collegiate Institute is a high school in the Glebe neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
Glebe is the OCDSB's largest school, and was selected as one of Canada's best schools in the August, 2004 edition of Maclean's news magazine.
The OCI had outgrown its existing facility (now Lisgar Collegiate Institute) and constructed a new facility on what was then the outskirts of the city.

 The Glebe - Evolution of an Ottawa Neighbourhood
Geography/Topography: The Glebe is an "island" bordered on the east and south by the Rideau Canal, on the west by Bronson Avenue (originally a major Concessional division), and on the north by the present-day Queensway, previously the Canada and Atlantic Railway line (CAR) owned by J.R. Booth.
The Glebe was considered rural until it was annexed by the City of Ottawa in 1889.
The Glebe was also represented federally from 1885 to 1902 by Senator Francis Clemow who was able to use his political influence to urge the Ottawa Improvement Commission to develop Linden Terrace, Monkland and Clemow Avenues to higher federal standards.

He was not a very successful student and only got a job at CBC when a producer was at the Macdonald-Cartier Airport in Ottawa and heard an P.A. announcer with a very good voice.
The announcer was Mansbridge, he was hired to work for the CBC and gradually worked his way up through the ranks to become a prominent reporter, and then finally main anchor of the CBC news, replacing Knowlton Nash.
