Many species of birds have benefited directly from Glen Canyon dam.
Both the Glen Canyon Dam and Navajo Generating Station use water stored in Lake Powell to create over 20 gigawatts of electrical power each year – enough power to potentially meet the everyday lighting, heating, air conditioning needs of nearly 5 million residents.
In addition, Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell provide water to irrigate more than 3 million acres of farm land.
