Glen Keane (born on April 13, 1954)[1] is the son of Bil Keane, an illustrator best known for the daily comic strip The Family Circus, and Thelma "Thel" Carne Keane [2].
Glen graduated from CalArts in 1974 and joined Disney the same year.
Most recently he was lead animator for Long John Silver in Treasure Planet and currently, Glen Keane is returning to his foray into the computer generated world as the director of Disney's upcoming CGI film, Rapunzel, expected to hit theaters in 2009.

Having graduated from CalArts, Glen Keane (yes, he is the son of cartoonist Bil Keane, creator of The Family Circus strip) joined Walt Disney in 1974.
In the early eighties, Glen Keane became involved with John Lasseter (another animator, and now high up in Pixar, the company responsible for Toy Story and A Bug's Life), in some experimental work on combining computer-generated images with hand-drawn animation.
What's good is that animators like Glen Keane have been (and hopefully still are) interested and involved in making it work, advancing the medium and continuing the 'Golden Age'...

My favorite so far is the Glen Keane interview (back on topic!) where he talks very frankly about his animation experience and process.
One of the things he said that I really latched onto was that when you come across an animation problem that you can't solve, it's not because you're not good enough, it's because you've reached the limit of your knowledge.

And with just basic point and click animating becoming a thing of the past, especially with new technologies like the Review Sketch tool at Pixar, I think the really great animators are still going to be the ones who can draw what they feel.

Dude, you don't shove contests to somebody like Glen Keane or guys who've done a particular style of animation for most of their career.
I think what you're actually referring to was the technique tests that Disney, according to reports and DVD features, conducted to see how Keane's 2d mastery can be integrated with cg (Treasure Planet DVD and the rumored Rapunzel feature).
