The City of Calgary needed an environmentally friendly and economically feasible means of disposing of the logs and debris that accumulate in Glenmore Reservoir.Historically, the logs from the Elbow river and surrounding shore line of the Glenmore Reservior were left in the head pond area of the reservoir, between the causeway and dam.
Glenmore Reservoir Services continued to clean up the rest of the Reservoir over the balance of the season.Glenmore Reservoir Services did not want to see the large accumulation of logs and debris go to the landfill as was the past practice.
Glenmore Reservoir Services' two rescue boats would remain on the water throughout the removal of the logs, pushing the logs to the shore line in order for the tractor to be able to reach them.
