Wheatley's four-year tenure with the group (until their demise in 1972) included many of their most successful recordings including the singles "Turn Up Your Radio" (1970) and "Because I Love You" (1971), and the acclaimed 1971 LP Choice Cuts, which was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London.
Wheatley became involved in FM radio broadcasting in 1980 when he was a founding director of Melbourne based EON-FM (now 3MMM FM).

GLENN WHEATLEY: I know more about geographic terrain, rainfall, weather patterns, sheep shearing, fruit picking than I've ever ever known about Australia before because I had to have all those elements in place to choose the towns and cities to make the tour work.
GLENN WHEATLEY: We don't get air play anymore, radio has chosen to put us out of the demographic of where they go, where they play, so we've had to find other means and the other means have been television, it's been print, it's been getting him out there in the marketplace, just having a presence.
GLENN WHEATLEY: I had a rough time of it 10, 12 years ago and had to get myself back on my feet, and had to fight to get my way back in life again.

And so it has come to pass as anticipated by Crikey that the ghost of Glenn Wheatley that only registered a solitary almost indistinguishable “thanks Glenn” in among a deluge of Delta Goodrem “thank yous” at the ARIA awards, was engendered by a fear of looming legal manoeuvres.
Putting to one side the issue of any possible legal action by Wheatley or any counter claim by the Goodrem camp, what is indisputable is that Wheatley was cynically snubbed and sent to Siberia and has every right to make his feelings known.
Wheatley had it, and still has it in declaring himself hurt or offended by his ARIA snub, which is his most public rebuke thus far.
