RTÉ has announced that Glenroe, which has been on television for 18 years, is to end.
The final episode of the Irish soap will be boadcast in May. In a statement, RTÉ's Director of Television, Cathal Goan, said every series had its day, and that it had been clear for some time that Glenroe was coming to the end of its natural life.
He said RTÉ was immensely proud of it, and that it had been hugely successful in its time.
