 Railway - Broadmeadows Line
The name of the North Essendon Railway Station changed to Strathmore in 1955.
The Broadmeadows- Albion goods line, which crosses the Moonee Ponds Creek Valley on a high steel trestle bridge to the north of Strathmore Heights, was opened in 1929.
Later, as the area developed and the volume of traffic on Pascoe Vale Road increased, this crossing became one of the worse traffic bottlenecks in Melbourne.

When the line was electrified in 1921 the stations were confined to Pascoe Vale and Glenroy, and the Oak Park station was built in the mid 1950s after housing came to the area.

 The Broadmeadows Railway Line
Originally constructed by the Melbourne and Essendon Railway Company, the line was opened to Essendon on the 1st November 1860.
In 1883 another station was opened on this line to serve the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds.
This station was closed in 1867 after the Flemington Racecourse spur opened from Newmarket on February 28, 1861.
