This part of Donegal has always been noted for its strong tradition of Irish music and Glenties has a flourishing traditional music school which is constantly turning out a new generation of musicians.

Leaving Ardara in an easterly direction for Glenties on the N56, the road follows the Owentocker River up.
It is very spatey and has few pools, but the brown trout fishing can be great fun.
