glib's various facilities are intended to have a consistent interface; the coding style is semi-object-oriented, and identifiers are prefixed with "g" to create a kind of namespace.
There are also many macros unique to glib, such as the portable gpointer-to-gint and gpointer-to-guint conversions shown in Figure 2.
glib provides a number of functions for string handling; some are unique to glib, and some solve portability concerns.

 GNOMEnclature: The wonders of GLib
GLib is a utility library for C that makes programming in C much more enjoyable.
Before learning about GLib through GTK+/GNOME I relied primarily on C. And, being a C programmer, I was jealous of languages such as Perl and C++ with STL and their nice containers and consistent data storage functionality.
GLib does not require you to restrict code to small subsets of functionality that work on all target platforms, nor, when you use GLib, do you find yourself resorting to prayer as a method of ensuring satisfactory implementation of your functions on other platforms.

GLib is a portability and utility library; GObject provides a generic type system with inheritance and a powerful signal system.
GLib provides a way to register nicknames for enumeration values, and the Perl bindings use these nicknames for the real values, so that we never have to deal with numbers in Perl.
GLib's g_log function provides a flexible mechanism for reporting messages, and most GLib-based C libraries use this mechanism for warnings, assertions, critical messages, etc. The Perl bindings offer a mechanism for routing these messages through Perl's native system, warn() and die().

Glib is a generic librarian/editor for MIDI synthesizers that I wrote and distributed on USENET many many years ago.
If you want the collection of glib source code that has the support for the most number of synths, you can find it in glib2_tar.gz, which is a gzip-compressed tar file with the source code (no executables).
It may be useful if you are looking for example code that does MIDI stuff or which manipulates the patches for a particular synthesizer.

FBI: Kerry a 'glib, cool' Vietnam activist - Politics - MSNBC.com
WASHINGTON - The FBI, closely tracking the antiwar movement in the 1970s, concluded John Kerry was a glib, moderate figure in a Vietnam veterans group that took a radical turn around the time he left it, documents show.
An FBI summary of the antiwar protests Kerry helped organize in April 1971 says the decorated war hero “overshadowed” many of the organization’s other leaders and was “a more popular and eloquent figure” than the rest.
Although the FBI was watching Kerry and the other protesters earlier in 1971, it placed the group under active investigation in August of that year following reports from many field offices that members were “engaging in illegal and subversive activities,” an FBI memo says.

A unanimous court held that the State Court's ruling to require private citizens who organize a parade to include a group expressing a message that the organizers do not wish to convey violates the First Amendment by making private speech to the public accommodation requirement.

Note: As of version 1.080, the Glib module uses a custom event source to ensure that perl's safe signal handling and the glib polling event loop play nicely together.
