  Nexus - Global Social Justice
Global challenges such as eliminating poverty and preserving a sustainable environment cannot be addressed by national governments alone.
Although the newness of globalization is contested by some commentators, the increasing scope and depth of global interdependence is widely accepted as an important trend in the global political economy.
Simply put, global governance is happening; so, we ought to argue that issues of social justice and sustainability are included in the emerging global agenda.

In contrast, a swelling global justice movement demanded adequate responses to problems ranging from genetically modified organisms to AIDS drugs for poor countries, from global warming to the destruction of indigenous lifeways by global corporations.
While its most visible expressions were large global demonstrations in places like Quebec and Genoa, its real strength lay in its linkage of people at the grassroots around the world - its "globalization from below." This movement was mobilizing for massive demonstrations at the IMF/World Bank meetings in Washington, DC at the end of September.

STUDIES FOR GLOBAL JUSTICE is a Los Angeles based group of socialist minded activists that coordinates study sessions on the history, nature, problems, and complexities of 21st century capitalism.
Our Curriculum Committee is now examining the issues associated with a global system whose petroleum dependency and imperative to expand is both precipitating, and colliding with, the ecological realities of diminishing fossil fuels, global warming, resource depletion and contamination (food, water, land, etc), species extinction, and over-population.
Second, Studies for Global Justice is branching out, sponsoring (although not leading) a four-session class on the historical roots of the Palestine-Israel conflict.

This year, the Global Justice Project felt that it would be in the best interest of everyone to try and reach some type of prior agreement with administrators with regard to demonstrating against Raytheon at the Career Fair.
He continued to say that the number of protest permits allowed this year were to decrease drastically (from the four the were given last year) as a result of orders from higher authorities, and that students could "quote [him]" saying he would not give protest permits to GJP for the rest of the year.
The Global Justice Project was censored on Thursday and feels that the administration has set a dangerous precedent in doing so.

The Global JXDM is an XML standard designed specifically for criminal justice information exchanges, providing law enforcement, public safety agencies, prosecutors, public defenders, and the judicial branch with a tool to effectively share data and information in a timely manner.
The Global JXDM removes the burden from agencies to independently create exchange standards, and because of its extensibility, there is more flexibility to deal with unique agency requirements and changes.

This unit aims to introduce students to contemporary philosophical debates about justice, and especially to the extension of those debates to issues of global justice.
The course divides naturally into three parts: in the first we shall be concerned with recent discussions around the right "currency" for distributive justice, with debates around "luck egalitarianism" and with egalitarian, prioritarian and sufficiency-based conceptions of distributive justice.
By the end of the course, students should have an understanding of the main schools of thought within contemporary political philosophy concerning justice, and of how they might be extended to the global order.
