The old Glodwick Health Centre (see Figure 1 below), which has now been demolished, was located in one of the most deprived areas of Oldham, approximately two kilometres from the town centre.

Their determination to fight back provides some explanation for the fact that white victims of crime have been outnumbering fls and Asians in Oldham for the past eight years: 71 per cent of violent racial attack victims were white in 1993, 72 per cent in 1997 and 69 per cent in 1998.

The reserve is only 2 km from Oldham town centre, and at 17 hectares one of the largest areas of open space within Oldham’s urban core.

Police have charged four Asian men with the murder of a white teenager who was beaten to death in Oldham.Gavin Hopley died on Friday evening after being attacked in the area of Glodwick in Oldham, Greater Manchester.
The men were named by police as 20-year-old Mohammed Foulmiah, of Greenhill Terraces in Glodwick, 29-year-old Abdul Hafiz, of Marlborough Street in Glodwick, and Mohammed Zubair and Abdul Hashan, both 22 and both of Park Road in Oldham.
The case was adjourned until Tuesday after detectives asked for more time to interview the men in light of Mr Hopley's death.

They were looking for a taxi and became lost in the Glodwick area.
