Gluteal cleft - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The gluteal cleft is the groove or crack between the buttocks.
The gluteal cleft is the groove or crack between the buttocks that runs from just below the sacrum to the perineum, so named because it forms the visible border between the external rounded protrusions of the gluteus maximus muscle.
The gluteal cleft is the location of the anus.

As a result, an elongated depression 6 extending vertically is formed on the center line of the rear piece 3 in conformity with the gluteal cleft between the buttocks.
Panties, briefs and like undergarments heretofore known have the drawback that when they are worn, the portion of the undergarment covering the buttocks extends merely in a planar fashion over the gluteal cleft between the buttocks and hangs loosely at its lower part to form wrinkles, thus failing to present attractive hip lines.
Conventional undergarments further have the drawback of being uncomfortable to wear since the garment is unable to fit over the buttocks and the gluteal cleft in intimate contact therewith for enclosing and supporting these body portions.

The buttocks (often called butt, buns, bum, ass or arse) are rounded portions of the anatomy located on the posterior of the pelvic region of the great apes and humans.
The buttocks are formed by the masses of the two gluteal muscles; the gluteus maximus and the gluteus medius, (aka 'the glutes'), superimposed by a layer of fat.
The gluteus maximus has two insertion points: 1/3 superior portion of the linea aspera of the femur, and the superior portion of the iliotibial tractus.

HYPOTHESIS: Refractory pilonidal disease is due to damage of the epidermis in the deep gluteal cleft by moisture and bacteria, rather than to damage in deep tissues.
The source of disease is not the deep tissue but rather the epidermis in the moist, hypoxic, and bacteria-laden gluteal cleft.
I wonder if this cleft lift would be helpful for someone like me who keeps having problems with the old scar splitting from time to time.

The first theory is that a pore (or pores) in the midline of the natal cleft are stretched by the force of gravity pulling when we rise from a sitting position.
It does not help matters that the buttock cleft naturally tends to become a giant "lint trap" in most people, attracting loose hair, clothing lint, sweat and dead skin cell buildup.
It is common for Pilonidal Disease to run in families and it has been suggested in medical literature that this is due to an inherited weakness of the skin over the tailbone and in the depth of the gluteal cleft which makes family members more prone to the condition.

The anterior tibial nerve is chiefly muscular, innervating the muscles in front of the tibia and fibula as well as the extensor brevis digitorum pedis on the dorsum of the foot, though it gives one small cutaneous branch to the cleft between the first and second toes.
The inusculo cutaneous nerve supplies the peroneus longus and brevis muscles, and the rest of the skin of the dorsum, of the foot, and lower part of the leg, while the skin of the upper part of the dorsum of the leg, below the knee, is supplied by the external popliteal before its division.
Some tunes it encroaches on the dorsum of the foot, replacing part of the musculo-cutaneous, though, when this is the case, its dorsal con tribution from the external popliteal (corn municans fibularis) is always larger than usual.

Widening of the gluteal cleft is uncommon because the incision is made parallel to the gluteal fold.
