[Linux4christians] Favorite Distro?   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-10)
Gnomesword will not compile on a barebones fc3 system because libgal2 and gtkhtml3 are too new.
But I packaged a compat-libgal2 and compat-gtkhtml3 that allow gnomesword2 to build and run on fc3 (and I packaged that too) They are in my yum repository.
But you can also just use gnomesword to install modules in your home directory and not have to worry about making module rpm's.

These rpms are provided by Stuart D. Gathman , and have been tested on two machines only, running RH7.2, one with the full Helix Gnome upgrade, and another with only new gnome packages required for Gnomesword applied.
It is not necessary to remove gnumeric to install Gnomesword when installing the full Ximian Gnome upgrade.
Latest sword-1.5.3-3.i586.rpm Unlike the RPM from Crosswire.org or Gnomesword, mine separates out the development files - the bulk of the package - which you don't need to simply run Gnomesword.

It has been a long time since there was an update to the site, but the team have been busy behind the scenes working on great new things for GnomeSword.
Note that in order to build GnomeSword from CVS, the latest version of the SWORD libraries are required, built from the SWORD project Subversion repository.
Edd Dumbill's DOAP project is a great idea, so you will now find GnomeSword's DOAP description linked from the bottom of each page and incorporated in the metadata of the pages so that tools like the Firefox DOAP Viewer extension can find it.

Not sure how many Fedora fans there are on the list - or how many gnomesword fans there are.
Gnomesword is GNOME front end to the Crosswire SWORD project - Bible Study software.
At any rate - Fedora Core 3 has some libraries that are too new for building Gnomesword (this happens with every major RH/Fedora release) - but I built a couple compatability packages for those libraries (libgal2 and gtkhtml3) and them available along with the sword backend and the gnomesword front end in my yum server.

It will be a couple of days before it will be ready.
I was making a gnomesword package of the old version that i may in the future end up NMU'ing in debian so that a working gnomesword will be in the next debian release if the current maintainer doesn't get around to fixing...
I experienced the same bug; I hang out with galeon upstream alot (i'm the galeon debian maintainer) and the galeon author was kind enough to patch main.c with a fix....
