 Gnoppix - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The name "Gnoppix" is derived from "Knoppix"; One of GNU desktop traditions is that KDE applications have names starting with K and GNOME applications start with G, and when Gnoppix is based on GNOME and Knoppix is based on KDE, this naming makes sense.
However, Gnoppix is a separate project from Knoppix; their only real common base comes from the fact they're both ultimately derived from Debian GNU/Linux.
Although Gnoppix is intended to be used as LiveCD it can also be installed to and booted from a hard disk.

 Gnoppix 0.9.9b1 :: ppcnerds.org :: powerpc addicted guys
Gnoppix is quickly releasing new developer versions of its Ubuntu-based Live CD.
Gnoppix seems to release new version with a good frequence, even for PPC: the latest (developer) 0.9.3 version for PPC was made available on January the 20th, so just one week before this beta release.
If Gnoppix is good as a portable and handy distribution, I found it useful and perfect as a rescue CD for my main installation: it includes xfs, ext3, jfs and reiserfs utils that will help you repair damaged filesystems.
