Topic: Go West (film)

BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Film | Gay war film stirs Bosnian anger
What is certain is that the film - Go West - has sparked a furious debate about one of the great taboos of Bosnian society: homosexuality.
But this new film goes one step further, using the war as a backdrop to address another issue, that of homosexuality.
Go West tells the story of a gay male couple - one Muslim, one Serb - and their attempts to get out of Bosnia at the start of the war in 1992.

Mae West - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
West was apparently married April 11, 1911, in Milwaukee, to Frank Wallace, a fellow vaudevillian who, in 1937, showed up in Hollywood with a marriage certificate seeking a share of "their" community property.
A "Mae West" is also a type of round parachute malfunction which contorts the shape of the canopy into the appearance of an extraordinarily large brassiere, presumably one suitable for a woman of Mae West's proportions.
West recorded another rock album in the 1970s on MGM Records titled Great Balls of Fire, which covered songs by Elvis Presley, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, among others, and her autobiography, Goodness Had Nothing To Do With It, was updated in a new version and republished.

 The Films of Roland West
West's films tend not to have a view point character or characters through whose eyes most of the action is seen, unlike the great majority of noirs.
West's films also resemble whodunits, in that information is often kept from the audience about the guilt or innocence of the characters till the end.
West almost always includes something parallel to the plane of the camera in these shots, whether it is a grouping of the actors, a single key actor who is being emphasized, or a background part of the set.

Go West (1940) was the 10th Marx Brothers comedy film, in which the three brothers, Groucho, Chico, and Harpo, head to the American West and attempt to unite a couple by ensuring that an evil railroad baron is thwarted.
Groucho is "S. Quentin Quale," Chico is "Joe Panello" and Harpo is "Rusty Panello." It was directed by Edward Buzzell and written by Irving Brecher and others.

GO WEST provides cinema with one of its most surreal moments ever: Buster Keaton, dressed as Satan, riding a cow through the streets of downtown Los Angeles, being pursued by a large herd of angry cattle.
The rest of the film is composed of various chases: Buster running from a dog, Buster running from the farmer and Joe Roberts, and Buster and the farmer's daughter running from the farmer and Joe Roberts.
GO WEST might not be the film that's more representative of Keaton's work, but you'd have to have a heart of stone not to enjoy it.
