Go around - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A go around, overshoot or missed approach is an aborted landing of an aircraft.
The term go-around is still used even for modern airliners, that do not use traditional circuit patterns for landing, although they are typically assigned a set path to follow in the event of a go around.
A pilot may elect to go around for many reasons, and in itself this does not constitute any sort of emergency.

Go around -- Facts, Info, and Encyclopedia article   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09)
A go around is an aborted landing of an (A vehicle that can fly) aircraft.
The term arises from the traditional use of (An electrical device that provides a path for electrical current to flow) circuits at (A place where planes take off and land) airfields—a landing aircraft will first join the circuit pattern and prepare for landing in an orderly fashion.
Passengers of commercial aircraft should not be alarmed if this happens to them when landing—often it is simply the result of an earlier aircraft not clearing the runway sufficiently quickly, or the pilot feels unhappy with a manual approach.

The Space Place :: Why do the planets go around the Sun?
First of all, saying the planets go around the Sun is just another way of saying the planets are in orbit around the Sun.
If you swing it around, you are constantly pulling it toward your hand, just as the gravity of the Sun pulls the planet in, but the motion sideways keeps the ball swinging around.
Without that sideways motion, it would fall to the center; and without the pull toward the center, it would go flying off in a straight line, which is, of course, exactly what happens if you let go of the string.

ESA's Technology Transfer Programme is to supply state-of-the-art technologies to assist adventurer Bertrand Piccard's flight around the world in a single-pilot solar-powered aircraft, as the ultimate demonstration of the potential for pollution-free flight.
The Solar Impulse solar-powered aeroplane must keep above the clouds to capture all available sunlight, at an altitude of 10 000 to 11 000 metres, where the temperature is around —55°C. Its cockpit may have to be pressurised for longer missions and its construction will require the use of the latest technologies in ultra-light materials.

Barbara Garson admits having a left-of-center view of the world, and being therefore caught by surprise by the collapse of the 20th century's disastrous experiments with socialism and command economics.
This book actually demonstrates that it is NOT money that makes the world go around any more than hammers build houses.
At least when she discusses the "moral hazard" problem created by bailing out banks that become overextended in third world capital markets, Garson is putting her finger on a real problem - and one that obviously can't be resolved by simplistic arguments over mythical "laissez faire" policies.
