The journey from the Royal Grammar School, Guildford, which Mr Bailey left in 1994, to the heart of K Street in Washington, the centre of money and influence in the US capital, has been remarkably rapid.
He was the first at school to have a mobile phone and was interested in early versions of the personal computer.
His school yearbook records Christian Jozefowicz as “Mr Business himself” and that he was elected vice-president of the International Student Forum, a business gathering in the US.

 History
The first school choir classes in 1947 were held at the Godalming County Grammar School in Tuesley Lane but in the 1950s they moved to the Borough Hall, where they were run as a non-competitive day, notably under the direction of Mr Heptinstall, headmaster of Godalming Church of England Primary School (in Moss Lane).
She was head teacher of a number of Surrey schools at the time of the early Festivals, retired to Godalming in 1972, and soon became a member of the Festival committee.
The idea of a music festival for Godalming was proposed by Mr Norman Askew, County Music Adviser, and those interested met on 15th March 1947 at The Priory in Church Street, Godalming, the home of Dr and Mrs Turner.

 Elliott Manley, Godalming Grammar School 1969-1974
I was at Godalming Grammar School from 1969 to 1974 in Fearon.
I left Godalming the very day of the last O level (couldn't get out of there fast enough - loathed the place) and got on a train to Switzerland.
We moved from Haslemere to Tilford for nine years, then to Beacon Hill for five years and now we're living in Rowledge, a village on the outskirts of Farnham.

FOOTBALL Below are the results of School matches played during March:- 1st XI beat Godalming Grammar School, 7-1; Under 15 XI lost to Cranleigh C. of E. School, 3-6; and drew 2-2; Under 15 XI beat Tillingbourne School 4-0; and drew with Pewley School 1-1.
SCHOOL MATRON Miss A.D. Hall, S.R.N., S.C.M., who is at present a Sister at Horsham General Hospital, has been appointed to the post of Resident Matron and will commence duty here at the beginning of next term.

 FHA - Sir James Ralph Darling, OBE Obituary
STAFF appointed to Geelong Grammar by Darling included many who were to prove pillars of the school and young men who went on to a wider fame: Sir William McKie, for instance, as organist and master of the choristers at Westminster Abbey; and the radical historians of Australia, Russel Ward and Manning Clark.
Scarcely 30, a bachelor, and somewhat pink in his political views (he had been chairman of the local branch of the Labour Party at Godalming while at Charterhouse), he was an unusual and courageous choice for a fairly conservative school with a strong liberal and Christian-humanist tradition.
At least 27 of Darling’s staff became heads of other schools or university colleges on five continents, and his words and policies were weighed in quarters where there was no direct connection with him or his school.

 The Dreaming
The Dreaming has been performed by the Birmingham School of Acting in April 2003, by Broadwater School, Godalming, Surrey, in March 2004, Carey Baptist Grammar School, Victoria, Australia, in June 2004, and in a production at Kings College School Wimbledon in November 2004.
He swings Puck away on a clumsy trapeze with a ridiculous clash of the cymbals in the orchestra, in the fullest belief that he is thereby completing instead of destroying the effect of Puck's lines.
The National Youth Music Theatre is playing a short season in the Linbury, the smaller venue at the Royal Opera House, and has come up with a little gem.

Jack didn’t fare too well at school, not for a want of intelligence but rather because his teacher “didn’t seem to impress him much.” As he finished junior school he began travelling to Godalming to attend the tiny private grammar school in the town centre.
The universal theory that Jack reached Lifeboat B after the sinking and died aboard her falls apart under the microscope, when you consider that there is no solid evidence from a reliable source that independently observed him aboard her.
Jack made four voyages on her to and from New York before he was moved again, this time to her bigger and faster sister, the Mauretania.
