The growing terminal lake of the Godley Glacier is one area where a traditional transalpine route has changed dramatically.
In the 1930s, when the NZAC Godley Hut was first built, travel up to Terra Nova Pass or the mountains at the head of the Godley was a simple matter of bowling up the white ice of the glacier.
