Gundovald   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
They were Gundobald (or Gundobad) (who had been magister militum 472-473 AD), Chilperic II, Godomar II and Godegisel.
Gundobald eliminated his brother Chilperic in 474 AD and his other brother Godomar in 486 AD, so that by the time Clovis began his conquests, there were only two Burgundian kings left: Gundobald in the south with his capital at Lyon, and Godegisel in the north with his capital at Besançon.
Clovis campaigned against Gundobald with the assistance of Godegisel in 500 AD, but the only result was the death of Godegisel in battle, leaving Gundobald sole king of the Burgundians.

 Nibelungenlied Text: Footnotes
Gunnar is the same as Gunther (Gundaharius), Hogni as Hagen; Gutthorm (Godomar) appears in the German version as Gernot.
In this latter the father is called Danerat, the mother Uote, and the name Grimhild is transferred from the mother to the daughter.
Although mentioned by the "Lex Burgundionum" as one of the Burgundian kings, he does not appear in the early Norse version, or in other poems dealing with these persons, such as the "Waltharius", the "Rabenschlacht", the "Rosengarten", etc., and was probably introduced at a late date into the saga.

Although the name Godomar creates the urge to be both logical and technical, we emphasize that it causes a blunt expression that alienates others.
This name, when combined with the last name, can frustrate happiness, contentment, and success, as well as cause health weaknesses in the elimination system, and tension or accidents to the head.
The name of Godomar indicates you are a diligent and persevering worker who enjoys a routine occupation where you can do a job well and finish what you start.

Godegisel appears as a partaker of his sovereignty; Chilperic was said to have been put to death by his order, but this is not certain, as Avitus speaks of Chilperic's death and Godomar's (which happened early in his reign) as a great blow to him.
Gundobad was succeeded by his son Sigismund, who was captured by the Frankish kings in 523 and put to death in the next year.
In 517 a synod was held at Epao, the present Albo, south of Vienne (see Epao, Synod of), the decrees of which plainly show that Arianism was no longer dangerous, and that the time for its total suppression was believed to have come.

The Nibelungenlied - I. The Nibelungen Saga (By George Henry Needler, Translator)
Historians soon recorded the belief that Attila had perished at the hands of his wife, and it was only a step further for the imagination to find the motive for the deed in the desire of Hildiko to avenge the death of her German kinsmen who had perished through Attila.
The saga of Attila’s death is before long connected with the growing Burgundian saga, Hildiko becomes the sister of the Burgundian kings Gundahari, Godomar, and Gislahari, and her deed is vengeance taken upon Attila for his destruction of her brothers.
As is seen at once from the outline I have already given (Chapter 2.) of the saga as we find it in the Edda, this is the stage of development it had reached when it began to find its way northward from the Rhine country to Norway and Iceland.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: St. Clotilda
According to the popular epic of the Franks, he was incited to this war by Clotilda, who thought to avenge upon Sigismund the murder of her parents; but, as has already been seen Clotilda had nothing to avenge, and, on the contrary, it was probably she who arranged the alliance between Clovis and Gondebad.
Here the legend is at variance with the truth, cruelly defaming the memory of Clotilda, who had the sorrow of seeing Clodomir perish in his unholy war on the Burgundians; he was vanquished and slain in the battle of Veseruntia (Vezeronce), in 524, by Godomar, brother of Sigismund.
Clotilda took under her care his three sons of tender age, Theodoald, Gunther, and Clodoald.
