Godzilla (Japanese: Gojira) is a fictional monster that looks like a huge green bipedal lizard featured in Japanese films which has become one of the world's most recognized movie characters.
Godzilla was first released by Toho Co. Ltd in Japan in 1954, under the name "Gojira." Two years later, Gojira reached America as "Godzilla King of the Monster." To date, Toho has produced 28 Godzilla films.
Godzilla is also among the few fictional characters granted a Lifetime Achievement Award when he was awarded one by MTV in 1996, becoming the second fictional character (and the first non-human) to have received it.

Godzilla, a monster created by nuclear experiments, is their personification of the evil of nuclear weapons and the destruction they cause.
Godzilla is pure evil in this film and, although obviously a man in a suit, makes for a pretty effective villain if one can suspend disbelief enough to allow for the sometimes cheesy puppet effects.
The original Godzilla was, at least in his original incarnation, a truly evil creature motivated to destroy the humanity that caused his awakening.

Godzilla's further ability to outsmart the military, who the filmmakers clearly want us to regard as incompetent buffoons, makes me admire this radioactive reptile even more.
Using the "tribble effect" MacGuffin of having the Godzilla creatures born pregnant is not compelling — instead, it's just a cheap excuse to avoid the larger ethical conflict of how scientists should deal with a new species when said species has just trod upon the New York Stock Exchange.
But rather than knowing that Godzilla was waiting to re-emerge at the end of the film — and knowing he will be very, very pissed off — we learn of his resurrection along with the protagonists.

Godzilla: (David Arnold) The Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich hit parade was in full force by 1998, with the filmmakers riding the fiscal and popular success from Independence Day and Stargate in the years prior.
A terrible plot and extremely harsh ciritcal response to the film put a dent in Devlin and Emmerich's action film careers, and would be noted by film music fans as the end --at least for a while-- of the working relationship between the two filmmakers and their friend and composer David Arnold.
The score for Godzilla didn't play as big a role in the film as all of the composers' prior efforts, and was drowned out by many of the sound effects and curious edits in the final product.

Godzilla is suppossed to have a personality and to be likeable.
When Godzilla gave birth, I was excited because I expected to find an updated tribute to "Son of Godzilla" complete with a cute little lizard that blows smoke rings.

You see, after getting two climaxes, you get yet another one, in which Godzilla, who up to this point has been outsmarting the army at every turn, by running away, hiding, and when that failed, ambushing, and even using the humans' torpedoes against them, finally gets his.
I will give the movie one thing, it was the first Godzilla film that I saw, and it did pique my curiosity just enough to make me want to see the "Real Godzilla", if only to see why such a silly movie could be based on a series of 22 movies.
I'm sorry, but the original Godzilla was a symbol of the uncontrollable destruction caused by the atomic bomb, but this new one seems to be about Man Vs. Nature, and man wins.

This Godzilla is lacking both the awesome spirit of the original and the sublime silliness of the more recent Toho outings.

Although this latest Godzilla movie is perhaps not the Big G's triumphant return to American cinema that fans had hoped, it is at least a return.

The most laughable scene in the movie hands down is when broderick's reporter girlfriend blows the lid of the Godzilla conspiracy by stealing a videotape that had been left out in the open and clearly marked "TOP SECRET".
Case in point Godzooky from the atrocious animated series or his original offspring which some fans consider to be the spawn of satan, the cute cuddly Minya.
Fans of Godzilla who were dissapointed by this film, said it was not like any of the earlier films.

In his review of this very movie, he insists on referring to the movie's main creature as "Godzilla", quote-unquote, and I have to agree.
Godzilla himself, after all, is nothing but an overgrown version of the T. Rex, and there's even a scene late into the movie that feels like a sequence from Jurassic Park has been directly edited in.

Since Godzilla has always had a cult following, and since the cult following has always talked about how Godzilla can be viewed as an allegory of post-World-War-II Japanese history, you can view the American Godzilla in the following frame of mind: Godzilla represents the final step of post-war Japan.
In Godzilla, Japan has exported the terrible product that was the byproduct of hackneyed imagination and America's nuclear waste.

Was it because of the overall disappointment of seeing a new, "sleeker" Godzilla, or was it the fact that, for lack of a better word, the story sucked?
Nick is teamed with a few misfit Army and science guys, and they trek through the aftermath of Godzilla's run through the countryside, in hopes of catching him before he can do damage to the world.
Whenever you select an option from the main menu, Godzilla's foot crashes down on what looks like your TV monitor, then wipes away to reveal the new screen.
