Just when it appears that Godzilla is finished, however, the kaiju titan manages to use the powerful energy in his own body to carry back to Mechagodzilla along the metal cables of the Shock Anchors, thus causing a severe overload in the giant robot’s power station, which results in the metallic kaiju becoming immobile.
Later, the examination of the Baby Godzilla turns out to be fruitful, as they discover the dinosaur to have a mass of nerve ganglia in his lower body (which they refer to as a “second brain”) that provides the beast with his lower body movement and much of his power.
In contrast, however, the early battle between Godzilla and Rodan, before the latter mutated into Fire Rodan, was wondrous and very physically tooth and nail, despite Godzilla's usage of his atomic breath at various points during the conflict, due to the fact that Rodan then lacked his uranium breath.

This second incarnation of Mechagodzilla is a construction of the humans as opposed to aliens, and is designed to put an end to Godzilla's reign of destruction, as opposed to conquering the planet.
Godzilla and Rodan are both telepathically drawn to the baby, and the humans decide to use this to smash the nuclear leviathan once and for all.
Still, as far as Godzilla adventures go, this one is well-done and fairly satisfying, it just lacks that "little extra something" to catapult it to the level of such masterworks as "Godzilla vs. Destoroyah" and "Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidora: Giant Monsters all-out Attack".

Conversely, Mechagodzilla looks like a pretty cherry ride and gives off that sense of a cool, calculating, monster-destroyer, since he's made out of shiny metal (I'd hate to be the one that has to wax that thing) and we all know robots are evil.

Jun Fukuda isn't a popular name amongst most Godzilla fans because his films tend to be more silly than most (namely SON OF GODZILLA, though he also directed the series' worst entry, GODZILLA VS. MEGALON).
Though most of GODZILLA VS. MECHAGODZILLA is what you'd expect from a 70s Godzilla flick, there are some moments of greatness, including some apocalyptic shots of Godzilla during a thunderstorm and of Mechagodzilla setting Tokyo aflame at night.
All in all, this is one of the most fun entries in the Godzilla series, and very likely the best Godzilla film to come out of the 1970s.

GODZILLA VS. THE BIONIC MONSTER (GOJIRA TAI MEKAGOJIRA, 1975) is the better of the two, but is not much of an improvement over GODZILLA VS. MEGALON (GOJIRA TAI MEGARO, 1973).
GODZILLA VS. MEGALON is first and foremost a kiddie film, with little to suggest otherwise.
It’s arguably the worst suit of the series (the SON OF GODZILLA suit being the other contender) and is dismally inferior to the previous design (used in DESTROY ALL MONSTERS, GODZILLA VS. THE SMOG MONSTER, and GODZILLA VS. GIGAN).

American Kaiju: Mike Bogue's Articles and Reviews: Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla 2
The battles between Godzilla and Mechagodilla entertain, though they mostly consist of Mechagodzilla firing different kinds of rays at his biological doppelganger.  The “plasma grenade” effect is a triumph for Kawakita, as the weapon appears truly overwhelming — it’s easy to see why it “kills” Rodan.
Akira Ifubuke’s music score soars, as always.  His theme for Mechagodzilla is majestic and resonant, and he revives Rodan’s theme for the flying monster’s various exploits.  Baby also receives a theme, a quiet, dignified melody that serves as a nice counterpoint to Godzilla’s familiar thundering marches.
Though it stumbles in the areas of both story and special effects, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla 2 is a good, solid entry in the Godzilla series, if not the classic many fans deem it to be.
