Godzilla does more killing and destruction in one visit to a city than all of the street gangs in the U.S. put together in one year, yet most or all of it is due to his mere presence in a city; there is no murderous intent.
Godzilla's presence in a populated area means lots of death and destruction: only when a "worse" monster appears does he take on the role of being a "good guy".
Godzilla does not run from the puny attemps of man to destroy him with his insignificant weapons, nor does he run from whatever opponent monster is in his path.

 Godzilla vs. Megalon
Megalon is one of those directionally-challenged monsters that doesn't know exactly where Tokyo is (shoot, the last time he was awake, it was probably a big stinky swamp) so they have Jet Jaguar show him the way.
This Godzilla is our greatest Godzilla yet, as he looks pretty friendly and listens to what Jet Jaguar has to say through a cacophony of hand signals that reminded of watching a backup quarterback sending in the play to the real quarterback.
Godzilla takes in everything that Jet has to say (This is a positive movie because it shows that signing can be cool!) with his gloved hands, nods, hops into the water and starts wading toward battle with Megalon.

 Godzilla vs Megalon
It seems that for every brilliant and truly inspired Godzilla film, worthy of critical acclaim, there's a Godzilla film that is so bad, so poorly concocted that it's the spawn of Lucifer himself.
To begin with, this is one the few films in which Godzilla teams up with a friend to help battle a number of foes.
And on the topic of rarities in the Godzilla franchise, Godzilla vs Megalon is one of the few films in which you get to see Godzilla bleed.

After watching Godzilla vs. Gigan (1972) one could think its lack off effort can not be topped by any other film in the long story of Japanese Sci-fi History.
Godzilla itself looks to have been doing some exercise, with his weird karate movements.
Megalon didn’t even bother to move properly, and in fact; his ability to fly doesn’t look useful.

Stomp Tokyo Video Reviews - Godzilla vs Megalon (1973)
Godzilla movies have the reputation of cheap entertainment for indiscriminating children, and Godzilla vs. Megalon is one of the films largely responsible for that belief.
Megalon is a lame excuse for a monster, a beetlish creation with drill-arms and a corkscrew head that allow him to burrow under his opponents.
Compared to Godzilla vs the Sea Monster, which had a dance contest, a shanghaied sailboat, a bank robbery, and a ring of international terrorists holding an entire island hostage before Godzilla even showed up, Megalon can hardly lay claim to boatloads of excitement.

Eventually, scientists in Japan realized that Godzilla, a creature born of nuclear energy, was attracted to Japan's nuclear power plants, and the decision was made to seek out a new, cleaner energy source that wouldn't attract Godzilla.
A great battle ensues, with the pesky insects swarming all over Godzilla, and Godzilla making it clear that he doesn't like being "bugged" [sorry again], while at the same time the G-Graspers get a chance to fire their new weapon in an actual combat situation.
Godzilla 2000 was a great Godzilla movie, in spite of its cheesy dialog and not quite perfect special effects, due in a large part because it recaptured the true spirit of Godzilla after being humiliated by Hollywood.

The rest of the movie is split between more Godzilla stock footage from Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster and Son of Godzilla, Minya acting as Ichiro's own personal Tony Robbins, and Ichiro's infrequent forays into his drab real life.
Godzilla watches calmly as his offspring suffers at the hands of Gabera before the little feller lucks into a method of defeating his tormentor.
Or maybe Godzilla's revenge was against Toho, and took the form of a refusal to appear in most of this film, hence the stock footage.

 GODZILLA VS. MEGALON - G-013
Godzilla's title foe makes his first appearance with the grating and decidedly unmusical "Megaro On Land" (Track 13), followed by an alternate reading of Jet Jaguar's theme.
Tracks 28 and 30 are fairly straightforward renditions of Godzilla's theme, while the tedious "Bitter Battle" (Track 29) doesn't sound particularly battle-like, though it may cause listeners to experience considerable bitterness.
Arguably the score to GODZILLA VS. MEGALON works better on CD than in the movie, where it is often drowned out by sound effects and monster roars, or marred by unlikely placement.

The old Godzilla movies had real actors who knew how to convey the right sense of horror and dread when Godzilla destroyed Tokyo.
When you think of what these actors were up against -- cheap special effects, choppy editing, the humiliation of being dubbed out-of-sync in the overseas versions -- one cannot help but wonder why they did not receive more recognition for their craft.

Amazon.com: Godzilla Vs Megalon (Dub): Video: Katsuhiko Sasaki,Hiroyuki Kawase,Yutaka Hayashi,Robert Dunham,Kotaro ...   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-12)
Megalon and Gigan are two of Godzilla's cheesiest looking foes; compared to such classic monsters as the majestic Ghidorah and the elegant Mothra (seen in other Godzilla epics), these creatures are ridiculous.
Godzilla even resorts to some dirty tactics, introducing a foreign object (a tree) into the melee at one point and later double-teaming Megalon--while Jet Jaguar holds the monster up, Godzilla pulls off the infamous flying-through-the-air-on-his-back-double-drop kick not once but twice.
Megalon is just silly-looking and is positively the dumbest monster Godzilla ever faced, and Jet Jaguar looks pretty much like a big robot, although his miraculous ability to giganticize himself is a concept only a Godzilla movie fan can accept.
