		Goheung is composed of the Goheung Peninsula, 38 inhabited islands and 122 uninhabited islands.
		To the east across the Suncheon Bay (순천만, 順天灣) is the city of Yeosu, to the west across the Boseong Bay (보성만, 寶城灣) are the counties of Boseong and Jangheung, and to the south is the Dado Sea (다도해).
		Goheung is located at one of the furthest south locations on the Korean mainland, and the island of Waenaro-do is also located along the southern tip of the county.

		South Korea is about to take the first step toward having its first rocket launch site, an important step in its effort to become a leading country in the global aerospace industry, the Yonhap News Agency reported.
