The Golden Baseball League, based in Pleasanton, California, is a professional, independent baseball league which operates in the Western United States.
The league is comprised of six teams that play their home games in city- and university-owned stadiums Three of the GBL's teams, the Chico Outlaws, Long Beach Armada, and Yuma Scorpions, operate in former Western Baseball League cities.
The GBL is planning to add additional teams in California and Arizona, plus teams in Oregon and northern Mexico, within five to seven years.

Back around 1993, even though many Major League Baseball players were making salaries in the multi-millionaire bracket, to a lot of these players, it still wasn't enough, so they went on strike.
I have been to several GBL Games last season (2005) and this season, and have found that the love of the game and families do come first.
To me, "Golden" is an appropriate word for this new Baseball League, becausethe GBL has sure brought back the "Golden Years of Baseball." I hope the Golden Baseball League is here to stay.
