In 1959 the Golden Hawks flight team was formed to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the RCAF as well as the 50th anniversary of powered flight in Canada.
The Golden Hawks flew the Canadair Sabre from 1959 until the team was disbanded at the end of 1963.
When the Golden Hawks performing there was sometimes a parody show by the Goldilocks flying the Harvard.

Both the Gee-Gees and Golden Hawks turned the ball over five times on the day, with Azzi only 9 for 27 for 125 yards with three INTs and the Gee-Gees losing two of three fumbles.
The Golden Hawks (1-0) move on to face the Guelph Gryphons (0-1) in their home opener next week, while the Gee-Gees (0-1) travel all the way to Windsor to battle the upstart Lancers (1-0), who shocked the Western Mustangs 25-16 in other OUA action on Monday.
