There are conflicting reports of the golden cat foraging close to human habitation - sources around the Bwindi National Park in Uganda have confirmed that the preying on domestic poultry and livestock is common, whilst research in the Tai National Park in the Ivory Coast suggest that domestic predation is a rare occurrence.
The little that is known of the golden cats biology and reproduction is gained from captive bred animals - the litter size is small, usually consisting of 1-2 young and are born after a gestation period of approximately 75 days.
The African golden cat has an IUCN status of Insufficiently Known and due to its relatively restricted natural habitat must be considered at risk until more data is available as to its true population and distribution.

A golden cat is a medium-sized wild cat, that belongs either to the genus Catopuma or Profelis.
All golden cats inhabit rainforests and hunt on the ground.
The colour of their fur is normally reddish brown or golden brown, although there are several other colour variants; anyhow, according to recent studies the African species is not closely related to the two Asian species; the similarity appears to be just a result of convergent evolution.

African golden cats are dwellers of western, eastern, and central Africa.
There are four different spot patterns found throughout the golden cat’s range: spotted all over; spots on the back; no pattern except on flanks; and no pattern except on belly.
These cats are generally rare in the wild, and hardly seen; probably due to their dense habitat in which they hide.

The great roaring cats, the lion, tiger, and leopard are anatomically very similar to one another and constitute the genus Panthera, which also includes the jaguar and, in some systems, the snow leopard.
The medium-sized and small cats are classified by different zoologists in varying numbers of genera, but in the system most widely used at present they are all put in the single genus Felis, despite the great variation among them.
Among these cats are the puma (or cougar), the lynx (including the bobcat), the ocelot, the jaguarundi, the serval, and many small species described by the name cat or wildcat, such as the golden cat and European wildcat, as well as the domestic cat.

Wozencraft, in his controversial1993 reassessment of cat taxonomy, considers Temminck’s golden cat to be in the genus Catopuma, along with the Bornean bay cat which is said to be an island version of Temminck’s cat (Wozencraft 1993).
Fontainier’s cat is very heavily patterned in comparison to the other two subspecies and because of this it was regarded for a long time as a variety of the leopard cat.
This may indicate that Temminck’s cats have a tendency to be sociable, and the male to stay with the female.

Since Tessa was sired by a shaded golden, it would be assumed that Tessa carried the golden gene (or more correctly to my mind, lacked a dominance of the Melanin inhibitor gene 'I' carried by all chinchilla and shaded silvers) and could give golden if bred to a golden.
However, since it is reported as having passed from a Tessa granddaughter to a daughter, BB, this may not be the case, In the direct line from Tessa, as far as is known, the gene or gene mutation skipped one generation, the dam of both BB and Sexy Legs.
Indeed, further breeding with cats exhibiting these color change phenomena to Persians born golden, rather than silver (in the case of Tessa's progeny) would also be an avenue for collection of additional data.
