GoldenEye was developed by Rare and released by Nintendo in 1997.
Of course, there's always the "But GoldenEye is a classic!" response, but face facts, it may have value as a "classic" now, but Perfect Dark has forevermore taken away all of its value as a game and condemed it to mediocrity.

GoldenEye - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the film, "GoldenEye" is the code name of a secret Russian military satellite program, using two nuclear warhead equipped satellites named Petya and Mischa, which use electromagnetic pulse caused by their nuclear explosions in space to disable all electronic devices within a 30 mile radius of their target on Earth.
GoldenEye is considered an important film in the Bond series in that it was successful in reviving interest in a character that many critics had suggested had become an anachronism in the post-Cold War world.
Goldeneye had a few things trimmed in order to be guaranteed a PG-13 rating from the MPAA and a 12 rating from the BBFC.

GoldenEye 007 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
GoldenEye 007 is a first-person shooter video game for the Nintendo 64 based on the James Bond film GoldenEye.
GoldenEye 007 was originally intended to be an on-rails shooter similar to Virtua Cop, only becoming a first-person shooter later in development.
It is based upon the GoldenEye film and its novelization by John Gardner, but, as game designer Martin Hollis explained, many of the missions were extended or modified to allow the player to participate in sequences of which Bond was not originally a part, or those in which he only played a minor role.

Review - GoldenEye: Rogue Agent // Xbox /// Eurogamer
When you pick a name like "GoldenEye," you invite an automatic assumption that your game is a cash-in, not to mention difficult comparisons with hits of yesteryear viewed through treacherous rose-tinted spectacles, and a dose of cynicism that it's going to take a truly excellent game to dispel.
Without the GoldenEye name, we'd dismiss it as yet another horrendous FPS game to join the pile festering in the corner, where we suspect that one day they will merge, become self-aware and promptly implode when faced with a world which isn't entirely made from muddy stock textures and boring pre-fabricated level geometry.
Of course, fans of the 007 universe are already up in arms about the fact that GoldenEye completely destroys the continuity of the films, introducing several villains and henchmen who are from different eras of the movies and pitting them against each other.

However, Track 1: "Goldeneye" composed by Bono and The Edge and performed by Tina Turner seems to have benefited from the remastering bringing elements to the foreground that enhance this song.
