Classical Mechanics (3rd Edition) by Herbert Goldstein [ISBN: 0201657023] - Find Cheap Textbook Prices & Save BIG
Goldstein may not be the best graduate-level mechanics text ever written but it is the standard, so there's no getting around it.
Goldstein, long recognized for his scholarship in classical mechanics and reactor shielding, was the author of the graduate textbook, Classical Mechanics.
Goldstein also was a member of the American Association of Physics Teachers and was a founding member and president of the Association of Orthodox Jewish Scientists.

 Ozark Guidance
There are many books out there that purport to be written for the “neophyte” therapist, but most are bogged down with the esoteric prose and dogmatic jargon that make some of the classic writings in the field difficult to understand.
The book is divided into 14 chapters that lay out many of the theoretical underpinnings to some forms of psychotherapy, including transference, counter-transference, intervention guidelines and main ideas that separate the different psychodynamic schools of thought.
Goldstein delineates his beliefs very clearly, however, a weakness in this book is the omission of any in depth discussion of cognitive or behavioral approaches that are so practiced in our field.

Goldstein\'s book   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-23)
'''Goldstein's book''' is a fictional book which is an important element in both the plot and the overall theme of George Orwell's dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four.
Early in the novel, Orwell introduces the concept of the book supposedly written by Goldstein: "There were...whispered stories of a terrible book, a compendium of all the heresies, of which Goldstein was the author and which circulated clandestinely here and there.
Without having read to the end of The Book, he knew that that must be Goldstein's final message." O'Brien later confirms to Winston that the program set out in The Book involves "the secret accumulation of knowledge — a gradual spread of enlightenment — ultimately a proletarian revolution — the overthrow of the Party.

Goldstein is very clear that this is not an authentic dish, as she substitutes a lemon conserve for the traditional briny Moroccan preserved lemons prepared with salt.

While this book might have represented the cutting-edge in 1997, it is seriously outdated today.
For instance, the book talks about offshore trusts as the penultimate asset protection tool, which was of course disproved in the Anderson case in 1999 and the Lawrence case in 2000, where in both cases those who set up offshore trusts went to jail.
Goldstein presents this difficult topic from a neutral point of view - not recommending one legal structure over the other one.

A History of Modern Tibet, 1913-1951: The Demise of the Lamaist State   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-23)
Goldstein, an anthropologist by schooling, does what he does best by submitting huge quantities of data, and suffers from the fact that he does not critically analyze the date in relation to the key issue of status.
The book is long and is meant for those who are interested (as no book this long will sustain a reader unless there is initial interest) but should always be critically examined and compared against other studies about Tibet.
Goldsteins book would be to say that although it gave much detail and explanation, it needed more of that "human touch" with a sprinkle of emotion to give a feeling of the average Tibetan in the period 1913-1951.

Alojzije Stepinac, the chosen "historical figure", serves in such frustrating construction merely as a model for a story that has much wider implications than his controversial role, the model that is used to condemn his contemporary interpreters as followers of Communist persecutors.

This book is amusing at parts, but the amusement comes, not from the Goldsteins' humor, but from their sheer blunt ignorance.
Perhaps the GOldsteins did not intend to be derisive of collecting, and perhaps they even have a true passion for books, but one thing is certain: that passion, if it exists, does not come through at all in their musty, tattered words and contrived sentences.
So: this book is not good literature, is not useful or informative or interesting, and is insulting to the very group of readers that it caters to.

And although no one said the book had to be inclusive of all Christian sects, I was surprised to see so many missing.
